Methods of preventing venous thrombosis (pulmonary embolism / deep vein thrombosis) include physical methods of prevention (getting the patient out of bed early and actively moving / elastic stockings / intermittent pneumatic compression) and chemical methods of prevention, and guidelines regarding their selection are shown. We introduce a risk evaluation chart for evaluation of patient risk and selection of a method of prevention.
